Dr. Watkins has been a long-time faculty member at the Centre for Nursing Studies. Her experience in nursing education spans more than 22 years having taught at the diploma, baccalaureate and masters levels. Her teaching in nursing has focused on medical-surgical concepts, women’s health and professional development. In addition to teaching in the BN (Collaborative) and Practical Nursing Programs, she has been actively involved in the continuing nursing studies programs offered at the CNS. She is also a Professional Associate in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University where her primary responsibility is research on hereditary colorectal cancer.
During her career, Dr. Watkins has been an active volunteer in numerous professional and community organizations. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Nurses Protective Society and is the Past President of the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health.

Prof. Tracey has been involved in administration of the BN (Collaborative) Program for the past ten years. Her primary research interests are memory loss in the older adult and safe medication practices.

Denise holds a Master of Nursing from Memorial University and has been a faculty member at the Centre for Nursing Studies for 15 years. She accepted the position of Associate Director (Non-Degree Programs) in June, 2014. Prior to this, Denise taught in the Bachelor of Nursing (Collaborative) Program and the Practical Nursing Program. Her teaching in nursing education focused on issues in nursing and health care, professionalism, community health, and mentoring undergraduate nursing students for publication and conference presentation. Denise is a Faculty Scholar with the Centre for Collaborative Health Professional Education, Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her research areas include eating disorders/disordered eating and incivility in nursing and nursing education.
